Children's Advocacy Day 2026

Advocate for Kentucky's youth for this legislative session

Mark your calendars: Wednesday, March 4, 2026

KyUMH is joining Kentucky Youth Advocates and many other children's organizations in being the voice for Kentucky youth during the 2026 legislative session. And we want you to join us!

Advocacy is at its strongest when everyone comes together to make their voices heard. Kentucky's children need you and your community to step up and speak to our policymakers on their behalf.

We will be meeting with our legislators to advocate for quality mental healthcare for Kentucky's youth and families. This year will look a little different, because the Capitol building is under construction, so more information is still to come.

There are several ways you can be involved in the session:

  • Come to Frankfort and meet with your legislators for Children's Advocacy Day on Wednesday, March 4, 2026
  • Host a letter-writing party! Get your family and friends together to write letters to your senators and representatives.
  • Sign up to receive action alerts via email with a script to call or email your legislator within 24 hours. These action alerts will be in response to bills or other decisions by the legislature.

If you would like to participate in Children's Advocacy Day, please contact Rebecca Merrill at (859) 523-2976 or rebecca.merrill@kyumh.org.

More information will be added here as the session gets closer.

How to schedule a meeting with your legislator

Find your legislators here.

Call or email their office and ask to schedule an appointment with them. You will likely speak to an aide. Meetings are typically between 15-20 minutes.

KyUMH will equip you with talking points to share with your legislator. It is important to share you are their constituent and your concerns for Kentucky children and families. KyUMH staff members are available to join you at your meetings if needed.
