Kentucky United Methodist Children's Homes celebrates 155 years

March 20, 2026

Earlier this week, Kentucky United Methodist Children’s Homes (KyUMH) President and CEO, Rev. Dr. Julie Hager Love, joined FOX 56 News for an interview highlighting KyUMH'S mission and the celebration of their 155th anniversary.

Founded on March 18, 1871, KyUMH has spent more than a century and a half caring for Kentucky’s children and strengthening families. Throughout their history, they have continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of children and communities while remaining rooted in their mission to provide hope and healing across the state.

As KyUMH mark this significant milestone, the anniversary serves as both a celebration of their legacy and a call to action for the future. Reflecting on the work ahead, Rev. Dr. Love emphasized the importance of continued advocacy and collaboration on behalf of children. “We want Kentucky to be a preferred place for children,” said Rev. Dr. Love. “But we have a lot of work to do to get to that point.”

KyUMH is grateful to FOX 56 News for the opportunity to share their story, honor 155 years of impact, and highlight the ongoing commitment to ensuring brighter futures for Kentucky’s children and families.
