Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) have quickly become one of the fastest-growing vehicles for charitable giving and for good reason. They offer donors flexibility, tax advantages, and the ability to make a lasting impact, while giving nonprofits a steady stream of potential support.

What is a DAF?

A DAF is like a charitable investment account. Donors contribute cash, stocks, or other assets, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants to nonprofits over time. This means gifts can be made strategically, even years after the initial contribution.

What are the benefits of creating a DAF?

Tax-Free Growth

A DAF offers investment growth potential on charitable contributions, allowing assets to appreciate tax-free, which can increase the impact of your giving over time.

Simplify Your Giving

All of your charitable giving is organized in one place with the DAF. Keeping track of your donations has never been easier with a single dedicated account.

Lower Your Tax Burden

Potentially eliminate capital gains taxes and the Medicare surtax, totaling up to 23.8%, by donating long-term appreciated assets to your DAF.

DAF Day 2026 is approaching on Thursday, Oct. 8.

If you choose to give to the KyUMH today, your DAF gift can:

  • Provide healing and hope for children who have experienced trauma - Your support helps children who have faced abuse, neglect, or other traumatic experiences receive safe housing, therapeutic care, counseling, and compassionate support.
  • Strengthening families and building healthy communities - A gift to KyUMH supports counseling, behavioral health services, and family-centered programs that help children and caregivers overcome challenges together.
  • Empowering youth for a successful future - Your gift helps young people gain the skills, resources, and support needed for long-term success.
